Management Portal

The UC Exchange Management Portal is a secure, web-based portal designed to simplify the process of establishing and managing UC federations with other members in UC Exchange as well as federation with social media, and public IM networks such as Yahoo. The Management Portal automates most of the federation workflow, thus saving your organization time and valuable IT resources.

UC Exchange Federation Management Portal - dashboard
The UC Exchange Dashboard on the Management Portal conveniently displays outstanding tasks and federation requests under the Dashboard tab.

The Tasks Table displays tasks that need to be actioned including completing provisioning steps, reviewing and approving federation requests from other organizations, completing the steps (if any) on your UC platform to establish federation with other UC domains, and requesting new services.

The UC Exchange Dashboard also displays any outstanding federation requests to other UC Exchange members in the Requests Table.

Provision UC Domains

UC Administrators can easily provision (on-board) their UC domain(s) through the UC Exchange Management Portal. This includes the UC specific steps required to establish federation between their UC domain(s) and the UC Exchange Federation Service.

Federation Self-Test

UC Administrators can quickly verify that they have established a successful federation with the UC Exchange Federation Service by performing a quick test with the UC Exchange federation test application (Echo).

Federation Directory

The UC Exchange Management Portal provides a growing directory of “federation-ready” companies.

It allows organizations to “friend” each other and to build their own business community of partners by sending them a federation request, or send invitation to partner organizations to join.

UC Administrators can track the status of federation requests, receive notification of their approval or rejection, and receive confirmation that the federation is activated.

Request New Services

Order and track the status of services ordered from NextPlane including policies and disclaimer management, and federation with Yahoo!, Yammer, Chatter, and Twitter federation.

Responding to Federations

UC Administrators can respond to federation requests from members of UC Exchange directly from the Management Portal. This includes receiving federation requests from other members, responding with approval, rejection, or a requesting more information, performing additional UC-specific steps to establish the federation, and receiving confirmation that the federation is activated.


Federation Management Portal - policies
Policies for controlling the traffic that is allowed or denied across an organization’s federated domains and/or users (internal and/or external) within their domains are managed from the Management Portal.

A UC Administrator can create, enable and disable, and re-order policies from the Management Portal.


Federation Management Portal - disclaimers
UC Administrators can create multiple custom disclaimers that will display at the beginning of a chat or multi-user chat session regardless of the UC platforms (including platforms that do not usually support this type of feature). Disclaimers can be set so that they are visible to the receiver only or visible to both the sender and the receiver.

Organizations typically use this feature to share legal, compliance and security advisories.

Reports and Analytics

The UC Exchange Management Portal provides detailed information that enables member organizations to measure user adoption and other important metrics across the organization and their partner community.

UC Administrators can view and download charts and reports that track the monthly numbers of users and message volume within their company and across their federated domains as well as the number of monthly messages by type (chat vs. presence) and direction (send vs. received).
